Pacific Grove Engagement Session – Rene & Joselin
Rene contacted me on Instagram and said he had been following me for a couple of years. YAY! He asked if I could take engagement portraits for him and his fiance, Joselin. It is always exciting to be contacted like this!
They had chosen Davenport Beach for their session but then decided on Pacific Grove. Neither of them had been there before so they wanted to try something new. Though Todd and I had been to Pacific Grove many times, we were excited to share their first trip with them!
We met Rene and Joselin at their hotel and offered to drive them around. They were happy with that idea as they didn’t know the area very well. We had a great time getting to know each other as we drove around looking for locations.
It wasn’t long before we were cracking jokes and laughing. Rene and Joselin quickly felt like old friends. We had so much fun learning about their relationship and how Rene proposed.
He had a plan for how he was going to propose to her but it didn’t work out that way. He had been keeping the ring in his car, waiting for the time he would propose to come. When Joselin needed to drive his car she found the ring. Upon her return she asked Rene about her discovery. He had no choice but to pop the question right then.
Since our proposal story didn’t exactly go as planned we just love hearing about other’s. Something about a failed proposal plan seems more romantic and real.
As you scroll through this session I hope you see how much fun they had. My number one goal during engagement sessions is to make it FUN!
The first 20-minutes of a session can feel a little awkward. One way I help my clients warm up is by getting them to laugh. In these images I told Rene to tell Joselin how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in his sexiest voice. That one prompt became a running joke throughout the session and gave me natural laughter and smiles.
