There’s something about a UC Berkeley wedding that feels both timeless and deeply personal—and this day in The Grove was exactly that. Tucked beneath towering trees and surrounded by nature, their ceremony felt quiet, intentional, and full of meaning.
From the moment I arrived, I could feel how connected these two were, not just to each other, but to this place.

Getting Married at The Grove at UC Berkeley
The Grove at UC Berkeley is one of those hidden gems that feels like a world away from the busy campus. With its tall trees, soft light, and peaceful atmosphere, it creates an incredibly romantic setting for a wedding ceremony.
One of my favorite parts of this location is how close everything is. You can move from ceremony to portraits seamlessly, with beautiful natural backdrops in every direction. And just across the street, the UC Botanical Garden offers even more variety for portraits, from lush greenery to more structured garden spaces.
What I loved most about this particular wedding was their day was centered around intimate connection. One of their best friends officiated the ceremony, which made for fun stories and genuine laughter. Each family member circled around the couple and held their wedding rings as they prayed over them. The couple also included a handfasting ceremony. A handfasting ceremony is an ancient Celtic unity ritual where a couple’s join their hands and bind them together with cords or ribbons. This symbolizes the joining of two lives. It is the literal origin of the phrase “tying the knot”. These touches made their ceremony unique and personal.
One of my favorite moments was when they stepped away after the ceremony, taking a quiet pause together amidst the trees. Those little pockets of intentional space always end up being the most meaningful.
