Redwood Cafe Wedding | Modesto, CA
Karen and Michael’s Redwood Cafe wedding in Modesto was such a special day because they are family!!! Karen is my cousin. Growing up we spent a lot of time together in the summer when I would visit my dad and step-mom. We would sometimes watch her younger brother, Mike, and get into some pretty good mischief. There are some hilarious stories that we will keep between us.
You’re going to love the intimate ceremony that Karen and Michael had. They were surrounded by their best friends and closest family. The portraits at the venue are beautiful, but wait until you see the images we took the next day at Point Lobos in Carmel!! They are stunning! They will be in a different blog.
There were a lot of moments throughout their Redwood Cafe wedding day where I felt my eyes starting to water. However, there were two specific moments that stuck out to me, Karen’s father, my Uncle Jim, walking her down the aisle, and later their father daughter dance. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this, though. This is Karen and Michael’s second chance at Happily Ever After, so she and Uncle Jim have done this before, but his time it was different, sweeter. Karen’s first marriage ended badly, and as you can imagine, her daddy was a little protective of her after that. Seeing her happy again made Uncle Jim joyful and proud. He is also older now, and battling some health conditions. It’s harder for him to get around these days. Getting to walk her down the aisle and dance with her again was very special to him, and it was so sweet to watch.
Another moment that led to a lot of mascara running down my face was watching Michael dance with Karen. They are part of a ballroom dance group in Modesto and choreographed their first dance to Chris Stapelton’s Tennessee Whisky. As I watched Michael twirl Karen around the dance floor I saw her beaming. I have never seen her so happy. It melted my heart. I was thrilled for her.
This was such a beautiful day. The weather, the couple, the celebration… it was perfect and we were so honored to be a part of it. Enjoy some of my favorites!! Congrats Will and Lauren!! I hope Greece is amazing!
