I thought it would be fun to share with you our own wedding pictures and tell the story of our wedding day. Have fun scrolling through and leave us a comment at the end!
When Todd and I started planning our wedding there were a few things that were a must. Our wedding needed to be a reflection of who we are as a couple. We needed it to be intimate, with just our favorite people. We wanted it to be FUN!! The last thing we wanted was for it to be formal and stuffy. We accomplished it perfectly!
The wedding and reception were at Moravia Wines in Fresno. We chose this location because it was small and it felt like a backyard wedding. It was perfect for us. Wendi and Rich were just the kindest people to work with. They felt much more like family.
Our colors were gray and eggplant purple. Purple is our favorite color! The centerpieces on the tables were wooden crates Todd and I stained. The florist filled the boxes with a mix of fresh flowers. Each table had a picture frame. Inside each frame was a a story about an important date to us. Our first date, first kiss, when he proposed, etc.
This is how we made our wedding personal. My long time friend, Jannine, made our wedding cake. Another friend, Terri, made all of the desserts for a dessert table and even made a S’mores Bar! She also did all the setting up and decorating at the venue, along with our friend Sherry.
Todd’s friend from way back was our officiant. Brian did an amazing job. He captured Todd’s and my personalities perfectly and added humor and a sweet tenderness to the ceremony. It was really special.
Like all weddings, our wedding party was made up of our best friends. Nabeelah, my Matron of Honor, has been my best friend since 1991. Nori, whom I met in college, was a bridesmaid. My third bridesmaid was my daughter, who was 16 at the time. My son, Tyler, walked me down the aisle. Todd’s best friend, Jim, from the fourth grade, was his best man. One of his former students, now good friend, Chris was a groomsman, and his friend from work, Bret, was his other groomsman.
Another way we made our wedding personal and intimate is we had our wedding party get introduced with their spouses rather than the person they walked with. We wanted their spouses to feel like they were a special part of the day too. To make it even more fun, we had them choose which song they would be introduced to but they didn’t tell us. They emailed their choice to the DJ. Each one was a surprise to us and it was so much fun hearing what they picked! Watching our wedding video was that much more fun also.
This is where it really gets fun! We formed a “Soul Train” line…best time ever!
