Spring Senior Session

Spring Senior Session | Ashley – Buchanan High School

This spring senior session is one that will always be near and dear to my heart. Ashley grew up across the street from us. My daughter was their 4th child, their “other” daughter. Through the years she went with them to VBS, Awana, youth group, and even family trips. The girls would run back and forth between our houses playing barbies and dress up. In a blink of an eye it was prom pictures and graduations.

When Ashley was in kindergarten she was diagnosed with a Wilm’s tumor…a cancer in one of her kidney’s. This was such a trying time for her entire family, and it greatly affected our neighborhood as well. Ashley, and her family were in complete quarantine for almost a year. The girls could no longer play together like they had. We all waited in anticipation for her parent’s updates on a website we followed. They relied heavily on their faith to get them through it, and the neighbors rallied around them in support. We prepared meals, had prayer groups, and were there for her parents whenever they needed to talk or cry. It was such a difficult time.

But then….God healed Ashley. Her cancerous kidney was removed and with proper care of her healthy kidney, Ashley could go on to live an active, healthy life! She participated in her elementary school’s dramas, joined her high school leadership, and is on the swim team!

Ashley will be attending Biola University in the fall. She will be studying to become a pediatric oncology nurse. Talk about using your personal experiences to help others!

I can’t wait to see where life takes her. With her faith as her compass and her family and friends supporting her, I know that she is going to do amazing things and bring great joy to others in the process.

Good luck Ashley!!!
